Eating Out
Saturday, February 27th, 2010I was a total hermit for many years, meaning that I never really ate out. On occasion, my husband would bring food to the house from a restaurant, but until recently, most of my food was homemade.
These days, I go out once a week to hang out with a couple of other moms and just get out of the house. We have lunch together in a restaurant and enjoy chatting and being with other adults. It’s fun, it’s enjoyable and it has become my escape. As a work at home mom, I need that outing each week.
Unfortunately, it’s all too tempting when out and about to eat fattening stuff. I often rationalize this by saying, “it’s only once a week”, but really, it all adds up!
Today we split three sandwiches and ended up with the tiniest portions ever. Which was good. And I bravely resisted when we stopped by a dessert place . . . though I have to admit that the prices helped . . . $1 for a teensy chocolate truffle and three times that for an eclair that I could make a whole batch of at home for the same price!
